Sammy’s House

I had read Sammy’s Hill many years ago when it came out and loved it, mostly due to the fact that I had also been a congressional staffer in D.C. at one point.  I recently learned that there had been a sequel and checked it out of the library to take on my vacation last week.  The book is Kristin Gore’s (daughter of Al Gore) 2007 followup and she clearly uses her inside information on the workings of government to craft a realistic story set in the White House.

Sammy Joyce is now working in the White House as a health policy aide and the book follows her relationship with a Washington Post reporter, a presidential scandal and colleague politics.  The book was a quick read and I was anxious to learn how all of the plot lines resolved.
